Teizo Hashimoto

One of the last traditional Edo (Tokyo) kite makers, Hashimoto died in 1993. In their small house in Tokyo’s Ueno district, he and wife, Kiyo, pursued the family business since their marriage in 1956. His powerful style is instantly recognized by collectors of Edo kites. Hashimoto is honored in the Tokyo Kite Museum, located in Ginza’s Taimeiken Restaurant building.
