I'm new to kiting. Will Drachen tell me all about it? Welcome to the kiting universe. Please tour the Drachen Foundation website; if your specific question is not answered, please e-mail information@drachen.org. May I tour the Study Center? At this time, the Study Center can accommodate only visiting researchers. In the future, the Study Center may include public exhibition areas. How does Drachen handle requests for information? Drachen welcomes questions that can be answered by a search of its archive, but, as a non-profit, it does need to cover the costs of responding to requests for information. Research and reproduction of materials is billed at $20 per hour, with a minimum charge of $20 for each request (save money by including more than one item with each request). The cost of photocopies, prints, or slides is added to the charge for research. In all cases, Drachen will make an estimate of the charges, for approval before the work is done. Payment must be made before materials are shipped: Drachen accepts check, money order, MasterCard, and Visa. Requests can be made by mail, phone, e-mail, or fax (see contact information for addresses/numbers), and can usually be processed within a week. What is Drachen's policy on use of copyrighted material? For materials owned by the Drachen Foundation, copyright will remain with the Foundation. Permission for commercial use of Drachen materials must be negotiated, with credit given to the Foundation (e-mail information@drachen.org). Educational or non-profit use of Drachen materials must be credited to the Foundation. Materials outside of Drachen ownership are provided for educational use only, with the understanding that permission for any other use must be obtained from the holder of the copyright. Will Drachen make kites at my school / church / community center / after-school program? The Drachen Foundation has a very small staff, and cannot honor most requests for kite making services. Descriptions of services by kite makers affiliated with the Drachen Foundation can be found under Workshops/Resources. Will Drachen supply volunteers for my kite event? The Drachen Foundation does not maintain its own group of volunteers. Contact the local branch of the American Kitefliers Association for assistance. Organizers interested in using Drachen materials or kite kits at an event may request a training for volunteers supplied by the sponsoring organization.
