Length: Teacher Presentation: 30 minutes. Art/Decoration: 40 minutes - 1 hour. Kite Assembly: 40 minutes - 1 hour. Post Discussion: 20 minutes. Total: 130 - 170 minutes.

Focus: 

Students will create a collage on the kite sail using overlapping cut geometric and torn organic tissue shapes.

Curriculum Integration: 

Developed and tested in conjunction with a local school and a visual arts consultant, this lesson plan was designed to integrate Washington State visual arts learning standards with a kite making activity. With specific targets, criteria and instructions, this lesson creatively teaches art learning standards.

Identifies geometric shapes and organic shapes

Addresses principles of organization
