Edna May Sauls on Harry C. Sauls In the 1930's, Harry C. Sauls invented a kite that pulled advertising banners over popular resort areas. In the 1940's, Harry's kites were discovered by the military. They contracted him to create anti-aircraft kites for World War II. The Drachen Foundation visited Harry's widow, Edna May, to learn more about this kiting legend.

Capturing San Francisco (part 2) A few weeks after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, George Lawrence captured a remarkable image of the sprawling ruins using his captive airship a hand-built, 49-pound panoramic camera suspended from a series of Conyne kites. To honor George Lawrences feat, and to commemorate the centennial of the 1906 earthquake, Scott Haefner re-shot Lawrence's panorama in collaboration with Drachen Foundation.
